Hal + Colleen Get Hitched | Country Hills Golf Course | Calgary, AB | Lace & Locket Photography

I don't even know what I can say about these two that will really describe how special they are, and how they have made a mark in my heart since I met them. When I met them about a year ago to discuss shooting their wedding, they were frustrated from meeting with other photographers and I wanted to take good care of them. I could tell in the first 5 minutes that all they wanted was their fairy tale day but at the end of the day, the only thing that really mattered was that they would get to love each other every day for the rest of their lives.

I was joyous that they booked me and we all waited (im)patiently for their July wedding. Now, I know that generally July is a rainy month but I seem to be a good luck charm so I wasn't too worried except that THIS YEAR. Was like living in Vancouver. I think it rained for every wedding I shot. I think it rained every day except 5 this summer. This year was CRAZY for rain. Like wow. So anyways, I was worried since we were doing all the formals before the actual ceremony and that was supposed to be outside at the Country Hills Golf Club . Luckily they set up a tent JUST in case, because for half our time doing formals the sky was black, I was nervous, excited, thrilled, and so pumped full of adrenaline that day trying to race the weather. The golf cart driver took us and a couple of the bridal party members up to the very top of the golf course which gave a spectacular view of the NW corner of the city, I loved it.

We did the first part of the formals at this gorgeous little park called Silver Springs Botanical Garden and the second half at the Golf Course. The ceremony was to start at 4:30 and wouldn't you know it that as Hal was walking down the aisle, the sky broke open and the rain hit the Earth with some serious force. It thundered as they said their vows and it was very beautiful, as if the skies were reinforcing the love they were vocalizing in front of their loved ones. The ceremony was Tamara Jones who I am pretty sure was the most memorable, amazing wedding officiant I have had the pleasure of working with. She really loves what she does and it shows.

Once the ceremony was over, the most amazing reception took place, I have never seen such a happy bunch of folks ready to celebrate two people. The energy from this wedding was beautiful! I don't think Colleen stopped smiling and laughing the entire night, it was so heart warming.

These two have gone through so much just in the last year that I have had the pleasure of knowing them, and at the end of the day they are just so complete as long as they have one another. The love they have for one another is so strong and pure, I wish them all the best and I am so grateful to have clients like them.
