Little Family In The MountainsRead More
Have you ever woken up realizing that your alarm didn't go off and you're supposed to be somewhere in 20 minutes? I feel like that's what this couple felt like when they ended up having their baby almost an entire month earlier than expected!
Erin booked me for both maternity (you can see her stunning session here) and newborn photos and we had just finished our session and while I was away in Mexico, I got a message from her with a picture of this teeny tiny little 4 lb baby and you can imagine my surprise! He wasn't due for another month! Well holy! But he was soooo cute!
Little one needed to stay in the NICU for a couple weeks before he could come home and I waited for mama to contact me to do the photos as I didn't want to overwhelm her. So Baby B came into the studio weighing in at 5 lbs making him the second smallest baby I've photographed, and he was precious. He did so well, it was incredible! He gave me so many smiles and he slept like a dream ( for me of course, can't say the same for mom & dad!)
I am so honoured that Erin chose me for her maternity and newborn photos and I can't wait to see them again soon! <3
Getting ahold of this lady was taxing at first as she's a busy bee and so am I but after a good amount of phone tag, we finally got her booked in and we did her session out in the mountains on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. It wasn't as cold as some of my other sessions had been so we seized the opportunity and the results were stunning!
This mama booked her session pretty last minute with me because she was on the fence about getting newborn photos done. I am so glad that she did though because she was AWESOME to meet, and she's come to the studio since with this little dude and it makes my heart smile. She's so funny and we get along so well, Im glad to have her as a client <3.
He didn't let me finish his session in-studio so I drove to their place to finish as Mom had painted a mural in his nursery all by herself and I felt that it was super important to capture those for her. That's why his session was a little bit studio posed and a little bit lifestyle session!
Mama loves dinosaurs, and she's a geologist by day so we tried to incorporate dinosaurs in all the ways we could :) And a little Super Mario too!
I was lucky to have this dynamic duo back in the studio for Mother's Day minis so I got to see little buddy getting bigger! What an overly adorable little one! So chunk and full of smiles! So cute!
I have known this gorgeous gal for a number of years, she was one of my bosses many years ago when I used to work with makeup for a living! We have stayed in touch throughout the years and when she got pregnant with her first, she reached out to me to do her maternity & newborn photos. I was honoured! I wanted it to be extra special so I moved her date to when I was in the mountains for a whole weekend and found a whole new location I've never used before for her mountain maternity. We had a blast in the snow on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.
Brianna's session was done in late October at South Glenmore Park. I had no idea this park existed and I sure didn't know there was access to water and I loved the different options for this session. I arrived early to scout the location and found this stunning tree where it branched out right from the base and it just spoke to me so I knew that I wanted this stunning mama to pose in it. The shots turned out perfect and I later found out that the "Tree of Life" was her family crest and it just seemed meant to be!
I can't wait for their little miss to come into the world so that I can cuddle her and put her in the cutest little custom outfit I had made by Kartay Photography Props just for her newborn session!
AHHH!!! This baby was the absolute most precious little man ever. He slept through his entire newborn session and let me pose him so easily. This session was seriously too easy. His parents wanted to incorporate some firefighter gear as Dad was a firefighter which was I love as I was a volunteer photographer back in October for the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society Hot Stuff Calendar Launch.
This session was done on-location at baby's parents home in Calgary using natural light. Newborn romper by Snugglywunkins.
This session was booked by a friend for the client as a gift. The friend was a previous client whose babe I photographed last winter, and I was so truly honoured that she not only chose to come back to me BUT she purchased a session of mine for her friend. We need more folks like this! What a seriously sweet thing to do! So blessed am I to have clients like this.
This babe was in Chestermere and I have to admit I haven't been out that way to do many sessions so I was elated for the change of scenery. I love Chesteremere. I bet that lake could use a maternity mama on it in a beautiful gown! haha! Anyways, this babe was perfect. He slept well, he was patient and his skin was flawless. Congratulations to this mama on her beautiful baby boy!

Melissa and her family are amazing! When she emailed me to book a maternity session back in the summer, the day we chose Im pretty sure was what felt like the hottest day of the year. It was early July and I am pretty sure everyone was celebrating Canada Day that weekend when we chose to do her session. We did it at Big Hill Springs and were able to find some secluded area with the cutest yellow flowers that both of us thought were just perfect. It went so well at her maternity session she asked to book a newborn session on the spot!
I like to ask the clients what kind of feel they want for their session, what type of location they'd like to use. Depending how they answer these questions I can recommend different locations and outfit selections to match their ideal style. Sometimes clients want to go for a more casual style with their own outfits from home, sometimes they want to wear one of the dresses I supply. Melissa hadn't been to Big Hill Springs and it turned out so lovely!
