What happens when the weather doesn't cooperate with your session.Read More
Baby W was one of the many babies from December that needed to be photographed twice. His first day he did so great the first hour but then after that he was wide awake and wouldn't go back to sleep. This happens. More frequently than you'd think. And in December it happened with 7 of the 9 babies I had scheduled. I had big plans for him when Mum told me she wanted something rustic so I borrowed some deer antlers from a friend of mine and I had originally wanted to use a plaid blanket to incorporate, but changed my mind last minute and went with a navy blue. He was so sweet.
The second time I came back we did the family portion of his photos, big sister was so awesome! I have to say that when I get to do first baby photos it's a lot of fun and generally stress-free but when there's a big sibling involved it's my favourite. They're usually so excited and eager to help and curious to see what Im doing it's SO AWESOME FOR ME!!!!!! Haha. My favourite.
Baby W's session was shot in his home using studio lights I brought with me.
Baby M's session was shot on location in his home in Airdrie using natural light. He was absolutely perfect for his session! If only all babies were that easy!

Morgan & Matt have got to be the most beautiful, funny, hilarious couple I've ever worked with. Actually all my clients are all of those things and that's why they're my clients. IT'S AMAZING. But we're talking about these fabulous folks.
This session was scheduled back when it was +30 outside and we planned for smack in the middle of October with the hopes it would surely still be decent outside. Last year it was! Last year at this time it was +20! Well....this year it was windy. So very windy and chilly. The wind bit. Which was perfect for dress flow but not so much for anything else like us, freezing in an open area unsheltered by trees.
Every time this happens, I always feel awful for my clients out there in these dresses, but they always say the same thing when they get their sneak peeks and their galleries - it was so worth it! And that fills my heart and keeps me going!
Morgan's makeup was done by the lovely Preet of Studio 150 makeup Artistry who has her own studio (but also travels!) located in Airdrie! All dresses in this gallery are owned by me & available free of charge to be used in your own booked maternity session!
This session was booked by a friend for the client as a gift. The friend was a previous client whose babe I photographed last winter, and I was so truly honoured that she not only chose to come back to me BUT she purchased a session of mine for her friend. We need more folks like this! What a seriously sweet thing to do! So blessed am I to have clients like this.
This babe was in Chestermere and I have to admit I haven't been out that way to do many sessions so I was elated for the change of scenery. I love Chesteremere. I bet that lake could use a maternity mama on it in a beautiful gown! haha! Anyways, this babe was perfect. He slept well, he was patient and his skin was flawless. Congratulations to this mama on her beautiful baby boy!

I met this lovely little 3-pack of awesome at the Mommylicious show in Airdrie back in March. As I talked to mama she told me about how she had a less than spectacular experience with her first babe but was very interested in my work. I immediately started thinking of ways I could make her experience with me a special one, before she had even booked! I was delighted when a few weeks later she wanted to book both a mountain maternity and a newborn session as well as some additional sessions later on after babe #2 was born.
She was barely pregnant when we met so we had a long time to wait which I usually enjoy as it gives me a good amount of time to come up with a unique vision and style of imagery I think would look stunning for her.
These images were the fruits of my creative imagination and I was so pleased to have a client who was willing to do things like get in the water and on the dock for some outstanding images. It was incredible.

I had a very specific vision for this session when K messaged me and she chose to do it at Fish Creek Park. It was a beautiful summer evening & the temperature was perfect. I wanted the session to have a super warm and romantic feeling & the sunset totally cooperated with me. It was amazing! I am so happy with how this session turned out.
Sheena emailed me to do a mountain maternity session for her last December, her due date was at the beginning of July and I remember thinking to myself "Wow! She is barely even pregnant and she knows already AND she's really on the ball!" I later learned that this amazing couple I'd grow to know & love had gone through quite the journey to get IVF and have their little angel baby. I learned from another client who had had IVF that when you get it done, they know the moment the egg is fertilized so she would have known from moment One. I thought this was the coolest thing ever. And they get a photo of it when it happens, which I also thought was quite neat.
We planned her mountain session for May & the months carried on till it was time. I had done a model call earlier in the month as well and she showed up and met me in the country and I snapped a few of her then as well. Im glad I did because her mountain session ended up less than ideal. We drove out to the mountains bright and early on a Sunday morning and much t our dismay you couldn't even SEE the mountains for the fog and low-hanging clouds, and what eventually turned into snow. Canada life. She was so sad and I felt awful so I told her to put a dress on anyways and we'd try to get a few shots. It was freezing but she trooped it out. Both images side by side are kind of funny though because they both paint such a different picture of the weather.
Sheena's pregnancy was high risk so I was unsure about doing a reshoot at a later date as she could have gone into labour and we wouldn't be near a hospital. We chose to reshoot at Big Hill Springs Provincial Park just outside of Airdrie at the end of May.
It was soooo hot. I was sure we would all melt but we all laughed so hard & it was such a great session in the end.
Sheena ended up having her baby almost a month earlier than planned and I was so tickled to finally meet him. I had been speaking with Sheena since December and it was June and he was finally here!
I loved photographing this family and I can't wait to see them again for family photos!
William came to me for his newborn session last January! He was the first babe of 2016 and he was ALSO the only boy I photographed the entire year of 2016! He was ALMOST also the first boy of 2017 but he was beat out by another little newborn, only by week or so.
His session went so well. He had a Dumbo themed newborn session and his mamma made all the decorations for his cake smash session.
His cake was made by the lovely Avenue Bakery here in Airdrie, here is their website and facebook page.
I love this family and can't wait to photograph them again!
