December was an insane month. Like, insane. I had 8 newborns booked for the month. That's not including the two last minute bookings I got of babies that had already been born. THEN, every single babe except one was born early - not by a lot but before they were due to be. The month started out with the earliest born babies and the last babe of the year was born the day before her due date. It was very interesting. There was a full moon the first weekend of December so I'm 100% blaming this baby wave on that bad boy. The thing was, every baby except this fella that was born early ended up having to be reshot. They wouldn't sleep or they wouldn't wrap or they wouldn't settle enough, whatever the reason.
I won't continue with a session past two hours unless I am making progress - if a baby is having a bad day (and it happens!) and after two hours I've got barely any images and baby isn't having any of me, I'll call it and book a reshoot. 100% of the time the second session goes much more smoothly. Sometimes, at the two hour mark baby just settles after being awake for so long and the magic begins and I can get all the shots I need in one hour! This little one didn't need a reshoot however he was born before his due date. His was the first call I got of babies in December and then wouldn't you know, my email & messages started to go off, one baby after the other.
So instead of having 9 sessions in December, which is normally a full month for me (I only take a set number of sessions per month) I ended up with 16 newborn sessions. It was pretty much madness, haha! I've never had so many sessions in one month in my entire career as a photographer. BUT all I have to say to that is BRING IT ON!!!
This little dude was so good for his session, he didn't set the tone very well for me on what I was about to be in for. He let me pose him in all sorts of ways and he was so smily, it was just an absolute delight to photograph him & his parents and I hope to see them again soon!
