Spring Mountain Maternity Portraits | YYC Mountain Maternity Photographer | Lace and Locket Photo

This mountain maternity session took place in Banff during April. This is such a gorgeous time to photograph maternity sessions in the mountains because there is still snow on the mountain peaks, and the waters are starting to thaw. The colour of the lakes is stunning, fresh and it feels so good. I think I like it more than winter mountain maternity sessions, actually!

This gorgeous mama owns a business in Carstairs, Alberta. If you’re out there, check her out at the Carstairs Hair Co. She had her hair and makeup professionally done for this mountain maternity session and she looked absolutely glorious. It was a really fun session to photograph out in Banff that day.

All of the maternity gowns in this Banff Mountain Maternity session are available in my client closet for you to wear for your own Calgary maternity session. Hair and Makeup can be added, just say the word!

Summer Mountain Maternity Portraits | Kananaskis Country, Calgary Maternity Photographer | Lace & Locket Photo

This girl made her Kananaskis Mountain Maternity photo session one for the books, for real. She was like photographing a Disney princess and I was in my glory. We met at Barrier Lake in Kananskis Country as the sun was starting to set and this girl brought her A-game right off the hop.

We call this the Sunshine dress…..it’s one of my favourites for summer maternity sessions in and around Calgary and Banff.

She brought her tiara she wore on her wedding day to be extra Disney Princessy! What a great addition, if I could bring a whole selection of crowns to photoshoots, I would, because you’re a total princess if you’re growing and sustaining life. I loved this session so much. The above images were mostly taken at Wasootch Creek in Kananaskis.

Have I mentioned I know a beautiful, sandy little beach spot for the perfect beach vibes at your mountain maternity photo session? Oh yeah. Glorious Alberta Landscapes.

S + J Baby Journey | Calgary Premier Maternity & Newborn Photographer | Lace & Locket Photography

Sheena emailed me to do a mountain maternity session for her last December, her due date was at the beginning of July and I remember thinking to myself "Wow! She is barely even pregnant and she knows already AND she's really on the ball!" I later learned that this amazing couple I'd grow to know & love had gone through quite the journey to get IVF and have their little angel baby. I learned from another client who had had IVF that when you get it done, they know the moment the egg is fertilized so she would have known from moment One. I thought this was the coolest thing ever. And they get a photo of it when it happens, which I also thought was quite neat.

We planned her mountain session for May & the months carried on till it was time. I had done a model call earlier in the month as well and she showed up and met me in the country and I snapped a few of her then as well. Im glad I did because her mountain session ended up less than ideal. We drove out to the mountains bright and early on a Sunday morning and much t our dismay you couldn't even SEE the mountains for the fog and low-hanging clouds, and what eventually turned into snow. Canada life. She was so sad and I felt awful so I told her to put a dress on anyways and we'd try to get a few shots. It was freezing but she trooped it out. Both images side by side are kind of funny though because they both paint such a different picture of the weather.

Sheena's pregnancy was high risk so I was unsure about doing a reshoot at a later date as she could have gone into labour and we wouldn't be near a  hospital. We chose to reshoot at Big Hill Springs Provincial Park just outside of Airdrie at the end of May.

It was soooo hot. I was sure we would all melt but we all laughed so hard & it was such a great session in the end.

Sheena ended up having her baby almost a month earlier than planned and I was so tickled to finally meet him. I had been speaking with Sheena since December and it was June and he was finally here!

I loved photographing this family and I can't wait to see them again for family photos!

Melyssa's Stunning Lake Session | Calgary Premier Maternity Photographer | Spray Lakes, Alberta | Lace & Locket Photography

I am IN LOVE. with this session. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. This mama was having her third, last babe & wanted to feel like  a goddess but when she showed up ready to shoot I knew she already was one. She totally rocked this session, she got into one gown and it's like it was made for her. She got all dolled up for this session -  hair & makeup and she added the final touches with flower crowns and dresses for the girls.

This was exactly how I want these mountain sessions to go.I want you to, with my help, to pull all the stops and feel empowered and godly and amazing. You should be, you're creating life!

We did this session on May Long weekend. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me that it would be so crazy busy in the mountains and I went to 3 different places to scope out for our shoot and every single one you couldn't' even park let alone find a place to shoot that wasn't covered with folks. Lucky for me these clients used to live in the Canmore area and they knew all the good spots. This location had maybe 7 other people and none of them were really even near us, and so we proceeded to make this magic.

Melyssa's makeup was done by Makeup Mel, located in Canmore.
Her & her girls' floral crowns by Willow Flower Co. located in Canmore at 104 - 602 Bow Valley Trail
Girls' Dresses - Bestow - Dress Like No Other, ships all over.
