The Blue Dress | Mountain Maternity Session | Lake Minnewanka | Calgary Photographer | Lace & Locket Photography

This session was explosive. It was amazing. I planned it for quite a while which I think is why it was such a successful session. This is another great reason why it's so good to book your maternity & newborn sessions as far in advance as you can so that there's plenty of time for incredible things like this to brew in my head.

We lucked out this fall with a super warm, snow-less season to start out which was also a key factor in this session going so well. This session was done over halfway through November and by all Canadian accounts it should have been -40 with 2 feet of snow and a very frozen lake. I want to say it couldn't have been more than a couple degrees below 0 but I was also wearing more than just this maternity gown so maybe it was colder, haha.

I have to say I am pretty sure this was my favourite session ever, everything flowed just perfectly! I got to have a team (my dad and my brother in law) to help, hold my lighting, fix the dress, block shadows, it was my dream come true!

Maternity sessions are best done between 32 and 36 weeks, that way you're more comfortable in different poses and can still move around with some ease, and it also a good timeline in the event you happen to give birth early! If you're thinking of doing a maternity session with me, I don't think you should need much more convincing after this! Thanks for reading, till next time!
